Population Monitor Survey
Information for respondents
The Hungarian Central Statistical Office is Hungary’s largest producer of official statistics and has run important surveys, such as the Population and Housing Census, for more than 150 years- providing statistical data for the most important economic and social policy decisions.
Between 26th of May and 10th of July 2022, the Hungarian Central Statistical Office is running a country-wide statistical data collection on the place of residence and educational attainment of residents of Hungary, regardless of their nationality or country of birth. Every selected person is essential to take part in the survey because their responses are needed for accurate statistics.
The Hungarian Central Statistical Office kindly ask for you cooperation to take part in the Population Monitor Survey if you have been selected. The completion of the survey only takes 10 minutes.
Legal basis for conducting the survey is provided by Regulation (EC) No 223/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council and Law No CLV of 2016 of the Hungarian Parliament.
How can you respond?
For respondents not providing answers online, an interviewer of the Hungarian Central Statistical Office will administer the questionnaire in a face-to-face interview, until 10th of July.
If you cannot speak Hungarian, it is also possible to complete a shortened survey in the following languages: English, German, Russian, Ukrainian. Ask the interviewer for more information!
Who should respond?
The questionnaire pertains exclusively to the selected respondents, regardless of the country of residence or education status. Unfortunately, no one else may respond on the selected individuals’ behalf. We selected people through a random selection method from the whole country. Each respondent is very important to us as each of them represent many other people in their responses.
Why should you respond?
The results of the Population Monitor Survey will be used to improve the household statistics of the Hungarian Central Statistical Office. These statistics influence crucial European and Hungarian decisions on education, healthcare, employment opportunities as well as housing. Without your cooperation, these developments would be based on the answers of other people.
Data protection
The Hungarian Central Statistical Office treats all data as confidential as well as protects the respondents’ personal data in accordance with the European and Hungarian regulations on data protection and statistics (Law No CLV of 2016 and Regulation (EU) 2016/679). Only anonymised and aggregated statistics will be produced from the answers, of which respondents or respondents’ households will be impossible to identify.
